Initially the Alumni Association (AA) gave crucial support to the NCE in establishing and maintaining academic standards. As a private organization without state support, the NCE was perpetually short of funds. the AA played a very important role in raising funds for the NCE and saving money by members working for a pittance for along hours over many years. It is Alumni whose contributions created a unique relationship between the NCE teachers and their students (would-be Alumni). Efforts on the part of the AA and members made it possible in later days to send selected alumni overseas for advanced education to keep the faculty in continuing fitness.
